Abstract

This study conducted a comprehensive community health assessment of Barangay Sto. Niño, Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, to identify priority health concerns and guide community-based interventions. Using a descriptive participatory approach guided by the Community Organizing Participatory Action Research framework, data were gathered on demographic, socioeconomic, environmental, and health-related indicators. Findings showed that the community was predominantly composed of working-age adults, with almost equal male and female distribution. Most residents were Roman Catholic and had elementary to secondary-level education. Many households belonged to low-income groups, although most owned their homes and had access to electricity, private water sources, and gas stoves. Key concerns included open drainage, open waste disposal, toilet facilities needing improvement, low child vaccination, minimal birth control use, and a high burden of hypertension, followed by diabetes. The study recommends health education, regular screening, sanitation improvement, immunization follow-up, family planning counseling, and community participation.
